Everybody chases down saws on CL..
some of the ad's and responses to questions range from funny to insulting.
i have been saving some but wish i had saved more :)
i have edited a few to save space.
I am sure you guys can can up with really good ones also..
of course there always the one we have all seen " needs a new BLADE "

"Maculloh minimac6,starter broke,,$40"

" poulan 20 inch,needs piston and cylinder.$50 "

" i dont try to fix them,i just go and buy another at HD "

" it's a husky 50 i cut a LOT of wood with and let my brother use it and he used straight gas and it needs a motor and the bar oiler dont work so it needs a new bar and chain too,$50 "

" i found these two old macs sitting on the floor in my grandfathers cellar $100 "
question: what models are they ? $100 seems a lot for the shape the pic shows.
response: " $100 is NOTHING ! "

" old homelite chain saw $75 "
question: what model is it ?
response: " i dont know,it is to rusty and to much paint worn off to tell "

"chain saw for sale $35 "
question: what make and model ? can you take a picture ?
resonse " dunno,nope"

" I have a polan 14" chain saw ran in sept use it a few time my guy ran it out of gas I never filled it just put in the shed the tighter on the chain could use so tlc 40 bucks with the case "

I'm gonna be pissed if I miss an 036 for $100 because the guy doesn't know how to spell and my searches don't catch it.
Of course, this one didn't get by me today. :dizzy:

"eager beaver 14 inch bar and chaine and chaine brake"

THATS a good one !! LOL !!

I swear to God this is true.

A lady posted an add to sell some firewood. She says she had a trunkload to sell and then went on to say. "I'm 61 years old and my old box won't take anything 17" long and 12" wide anymore."

Did you offer to fill her box with something smaller ? :)

I just missed one that had Stilh Chanesaw $50. None of my searches picked it up. My wife emailed me the posting (gotta love her for that) when I sent the email, then called the guy was there picking it up. I was so mad because he couldn't spell I didn't want to know what model it was. So now I have add chane and stilh to my CL searching.

I'll do searches for chainsaw, chain saw, in addition to the more obscure steal, sthl, jonsred, husquvarna, and husky. Believe it or not alot of people butcher the five letters it takes to spell stihl.

I watch all kinds of sales for chainsaws and like the others have seen every spelling error about possible, even on eBay . I just about passed up on one recently for a large White chainsaw, $25. Thought better of it and made the call, glad I did, I snagged a saw I have been looking for over 4-5 years now. It turned out to be a Wright C70, complete all original and unbroken.

If your looking for Orline (O&R) chainsaws/parts on E-Bay, Try "Grline".

I've seen that mistake a few times.

Funny you say that. When I bought my pair of Orline saws, they were listed as "Oregon" chainsaws, because they both were equipped with Oregon bars. I do believe he mentioned Grline in the ad as well.
That listing error cost him money, I picked up the pair (Orline Mustang 149's) for a little over 100 bucks, and both were in good cosmetic shape. Had both running soon after I received them as well.

I found this one the other day:

Must be one helluva saw. The few electrics I've used all cut like a dog, not a god/

Oh, that's my neighbor. After turning the bar BLUE with heat, it really did need a new, uh, "blade".

I don't think he knows about bar oil. I mean, you put oil in the gas, right? So why would you need more oil? :dizzy:
