I'm assuming you have all the tools necessary to perform the work you get. If that is true you can't afford NOT to advertise. For a new company that is the most important expense, it's the fuel that runs the engine. As far as methods, it sounds like you're in a fairly rural area. Do you have lettering on your truck? Do yoy have a logo? Let us know a little more about what you're doing now and what's working and what isn't. Jeff

Are you licensed and insured? 50 mi which way? If you have the credentials I can possibly turn you on to a gig in Cabot. I have a sister n law down that way and they need some trees removed. High value targets though! Most of them are easy drops. The trees are mostly oak and pecan. I'm not sure what variety of oak...it's some flat land stuff I am not used to seeing. Do you have any vids of your work? I would say that you could hustle up more work in that area if you do a good job. Those people around there are city people with a bunch of money and tall ass'd trees.

I can tell you my experience of what NOT to spend your money on. Others may disagree. I paid Yellow Pages $125 per month to advertise online. The only ones to enrich themselves was Yellow Pages. Out of the the $375 I spent with them (three months) I got $80 of work. I cancelled the contract and they sent me the papers saying my obligation was fulfilled and I had a zero balance. I then started getting bills for about $45 for several months. I kept calling them and one rep told me not to worry about it. The bills kept coming and I finally got a call from a very angry woman threatening me with collection agencies etc. I called my attorney and he pretty much said they are the sleaze bags of the world about hounding you for money and it would be much cheaper to just pay the $45 rather than fight it. I knew that and I did finally end up just paying the money. They claimed from the time I cancelled, and I was told I had a zero balance, that it took five or six days for the paperwork to get to billing and that was what I was being billed for. Anyway, I would stay far, far away from anything to do with Yellow Pages. They are high pressure but I had no results. They make it almost impossible to cancel your contract.

ok that puts u in my territory lol. Another start up just what I wanted to hear! I suggest from experience look elsewhere its already saturated with tree companies that seem to not care if they profit! If not what you wanted to hear sorry but it's truth.

No yellow book

I had yellow book last year results were worse than I could have imagined bout 500$ in work for 1300$ had home pages too 400$ zero calls then I got nice decals and leave yard signs for 3 days on every job and that's where all my work comes from. I believe that is your best advertising per dollar. I get a bid about 50% of the time I leave a yard sign.

I posted on the Commercial forum the other day about a book my wife recently bought me called "UN Marketing" by Scott Stratten. The more I get into it, it makes sense, and the author has a good sense of humour too. Marketing/Sales is my Achille's heel, and I would really recommend you get yourself a copy. Is less than $20 at Amazon. (Btw. the author despises the Yellow Pages, and refers to them as "paper spam")

From the back cover of the book: "Scott Stratten....speaks and consults globally on how businesses can engage better (or not at all) with their current and potential customer base using social media, viral marketing - and just plain old good conversation"

Lol I have seen un marketing its hilarious but effective sometimes!

OP- I was being serious offering you a shot at some work in Cabot, are you not interested? I'm not really sure where exactly you are located, Cabot may be too far away.

Have never done any advertising, but do take photos while working and leave copies

with homeowner. Putting your name and number on your "men working in trees" warning signs while working might get you noticed by potential drive by customers.
