How many of you out there wear gloves when operating your saws & what kind of gloves do you use. Remember I'm in Florida & we usually do not wear gloves to keep our hands warm. I wear very tight fitting leather gloves, like cowboy gloves when I need to but I think I get a better "feel" for what the saw is doing without them.

Been cutting firewood for over 30 years. Never wear gloves as I think it gives me better feel for what is happening. Also makes picking up trash, loading wood etc. easier. Yes I get nicks, scratches and slivers occasionally.

Here's what I like. I would rather rip a glove than my finger.

I started wearing gloves with the kevlar on the backs and at first they seemed bulky, but now I don't even notice them. For sure they have saved me any number of nips and bites, not to mention less poisen ivy.

Now if I would only get into the chaps habit.

The reason to wear gloves warm or cold is to give any kind of buffer from vibration. You can develop nerve damage in your hands commonly called whitefinger. I,ve worn gloves for 20 years running saw and my hands are messed up. gloves that are tight and restrict movement will accellerate tendon problems. The best one I have found so far is the Atlas grey gloves, unfortunately they artent as grippy as the blues, but there is more vibration dampening.

I usually wear yellow fallers gloves they are knitted with the cross hatch rubber strips on it. I also wear the atlas gloves meantioned above for everything else they grip good they are not like a straight jacket for your hands. The Atlas gloves come insulated Gray palm and the non Insulated Blue palm.
