Hi all
I bought a Vermeer 206 to grind out my stumps (doing 10 per year) and got it at a reasonable price expecting a few problems.
The PO after it broke down left it out in the rain with the air filter and box off. He said he later found a bent push rod which he has replaced. Motor still sat for 3 years gathering dust and or water.
I have changed the oil and filter, dumped the fuel, lubed it up.
I found the carby butterflies to be fairly seized so pulled the carb and I think it’s toast, one butterfly fell off, rust and hunk everywhere. I like the made in Japan badge but a $60 Chinese carb Might make sense.
Before investing more money I thought I’d check compression. One spark plug was tight and I now believe not wound in properly. Pot 1 was 120 and pot 2 was 60, i might be loosing a bit of compression on pot 2 but not a lot. I need a 1.25x14 Tap to be able to get the compression gauge and spark plug in properly.
At this stage is it pull the head or can I tap it with the head on
Cheers
