John, you better get to see a doctor, I think you really are losing it! I think you went on one of these, "change friends and sh!t on the old ones" sprees last winter too didn't you?
Frank, don't confuse freinds with acquaintances. If you knew how to diffentiate between the two you wouldn't be so confused.
It's not neccessary to win the esteem of those who's esteem isn't worth winning.

I live about 50 yds from the Pacific Ocean, does this make me a sea-cull? Later Jack-a$$.  Oh and thanks for the insight into your true occupation, we need more custodians.

A far as I am concerned, saw mods are out of the realm of do-it-yourselfers. Any bozo can play around. I am talking about major HP gains, repeatability as far as accuracy and performance and proven longevity of the final product. Half you clowns can't even read a micrometer or vernier caliper, scary.

Mr. Simon, What makes you a judge? You have not showed anyone nothing! So as far as I can see it you have not made it to the bozo stage yet.Until you can show all this so called HP, I think Gypo is a few steps ahead of you!!!

That is what is called diversionary tactics folks. You have seen this pattern before of spamming and personal attacks nothing to do with the topic. Avoid the issue, which here was doing modifications by trial and error. I seem to remember hearing thins like a certain saw does not take well to modifications etc. Why? because someone found out they removed metal that should have been left alone. Probably just taking someone elses generic advice. Every saw is different and some definitely dont respond positively to random acts of violence! It is not me who is encouraging do it yourself lobotomies and I am surely not trying to drum up buiness of doing it for you. Just telling you to be wary of the "free" advice of people with an agenda. I know enough about engines to know my limitations. Dont let someone talk you into going beyond your own. But hey! its your saw.

Crofter....The figures Gypo gave were figures Ken Dunn gave Gypo....So the timing work was done, and those figures will make a stock 372 work saw run better. You, with your gloom and doom support is a total laugh! There are many ways to skin a cat, but Gypo is showing things that most anybody could do with the right tools. There are more things that will make this saw better, but the average guy won't go wrong, unless he hashes the port work. Porting is an art, and when I see some of my first porting, I laugh at myself. One of my first .084 barrels I ported, I put the boost ports on the exhaust side, instead of the intake side...hahaha...big mistake, but suprisingly, the saw run pretty darn good. Boys, if your as tight as Crofter don't try a thing, but if you aren't, don't be afraid to pull those saws apart and have some fun. Practice on an old barrel like Simon said, and for the one's that have no interest in improving there saws, pay the money and have someone do if for you. But this is a chainsaw forum and it seems to me people are here to learn things they can do for themselves. Gypo has not lead you astray. Later Dennis

Ya Crofter, you're like Jimmy Swaggart, trying to make everybody think you have to have some sort of affiliation with a group, church , school or union before you can succeed.
Bullch!t!
Your doctrine is designed to cripple others while elevating yourself.
Get a life! Your agenda has never worked and never will.
Hahaha

Dennis you are talking sense for a change. If the dimensions have been tried and proven on a certain saw they are ok. John does give the notion that his methods are ok to do carte blanche. That is where the trouble comes.. He very much give the impression that it is foolproof. If he was a bit more liberal with warnings and disclaimers that this worked on that particular saw and better take half that much and work up etc, I would buy it. You admit that a person new to it is likely to make mistakes, I agree. He is just too gung ho!
Me, stingy with money? I don't like wasting it but I dont mind spending it wisely. Now why don't you give a blow by blow demonstration on how to make your own race chain to go along with the Gypo Boob Job Saw Mods!
Now when I see that I will believe you guys really want to get the woodticks up to speed and are not just blowing smoke to spite another saw builder. Lets see the works!

As slimey as it was, devils advocate always raises points to the benefit of all.

We're not as stupid as some give us credit is all, which is fine by me.

I was even able to craft a nifty back-ground and screen saver with those "shovel patties". Nothing gets wasted out here but me occasionally.

Have a beer Simon, "A terrible mind is a thing to waste."

John, settle down and take a few deep breaths. Have you tried meditation? I hear it can do wonders for calming a troubled soul. Really though your problems are beyond me!

If I am so full of it, dont worry, no one will listen to me. Just carry on and dont worry about the crippled others I am leaving in my wake! Lol! People will see thru my devious agenda and follow the shepherd. Have faith in yourself, John!

Speaking of Dance Hall Girls, I met one of the most successful wolverine trappers in the Yukon and he would on occasion go Nevada or San Fransisco and hire a lady of the evening. Well as the story goes he treated those girls like they were Queens, bestowing gifts and jewelry upon them, and why wouldn't he?

As we move into the New Year, I wanted to draw reference to a few culls we got rid of, noteably Jokers, Crofter, Head Terd and Sodomizer, hiding behind a stump and pulling their puddin'. Culls!

Crofter....what good would it do giving woodticks blow by blow instructions on how to build a race chain? As usual, you don't make any sense. The agenda here is not to blow smoke or to spite any saw builder. It's to show people, that stuff can be done and can be fun with right tools, and like I said, if you're a tight a$$ like you seem to be, go have a saw builder build you a woods saw.
It's to bad Frank that all the reading of your favorite chain filing threads and trying to figure all the angles and dangles haven't shown you enough to build a fast chain. But maybe in time you'll figure things out. Ahhhhhhhha! but I doubt it! Later Dennis

Hey Jokers, while your sitting on your 9-5 fat ass stuffing your chowderhole with day old dognuts think about what you could have been had you not been a conformist, or some sort of a cull like that.
