One thing I have found with hackberry is that bugs get into it (not a big deal by itself) but ends up leaving lots of sawdust around and on the wood. Some customers then worry about termites/bugs in it. I have never seen the bugs themselves. We cut a bunch up last fall that was down for years, and it was not all that bad yet and had lots of happy customers out of it.
