Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the family and friends gtg's.
May all your gas be fresh.

This year we get to go to another friends house... great, but I really like it at home - days and days of leftovers to pick at!!!

Yes yes, Happy Turkey Day! Be especially thankful if a couch is empty after dinner (well at least I am after turkey dins), regardless, count your blessings and good tidings to all my American friends out there. :)

So does anybody else get to go to the woods in the morning? Right now I am trying to decide whether to go deer hunting, or skid a few cord of logs out for firewood. Bonus to that is I would have a gun in the skidder with me and possibly get to shoot a deer while skidding.

I'll be down at the woodlot in the AM. Dinner isn't until 4pm, so I will have time to get some more wod rounded up. Should be fun, I haven't been to the woods in a while.

Happy Turkey Day peoples!

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and can be with family and friends. Think about those who can not be with their families and pause for a moment to count your blessings. Take care everyone.:)

Happy Thanksgiving all and lets keep our brothers and sisters who can not make it home to be with their families in our thoughts.

I may get a log or two milled tomorrow morning, all the neighbors gone, and dont need to be in Battle Creek till noon or so.

Speaking out of ignorance, thanksgiving is just once a year isn't it?

It doesn't seems a year ago that you were all celebrating.

It's one of those moveable feasts isn't it? How is the day determined?

BTW happy weekend is all I have to look forward to until Christmas:(

For Dan Forsh, This came from Amick's web. Hope it helps on your question.

The History of Thanksgiving
After a long and arduous journey, the Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower reached their final destination at Plymouth Rock on December 11, 1620. A year after their arrival, the first American Thanksgiving took place to celebrate a plentiful harvest after a long and bitter winter. The three-day feast included ninety one American Indians, whom many believe the Pilgrims would not have survived without. Several years later there were many discussions over the official day of Thanksgiving, including controversy over its formal date. From 1939 to 1941, Franklin D. Roosevelt, in an effort to lengthen Christmas shopping, proclaimed Thanksgiving as the third Thursday in November. Unfortunately for online sellers, the lengthened shopping season was quickly overturned. The official date was changed in 1941, when Thanksgiving was sanctioned by Congress as a legal holiday to take place on the fourth Thursday in November of every year.

Happy Holidays

Tomorrow morning I will be in the woods at day break. My son 15, shot a nice doe Sunday afternoon. My 13 year old daughter is so intrigued NOW She wants to go hunting. My son took her to the buddy stand this evening. But they did not see any deer. She says she is going with him tomorrow.he shoots asingle shot 20 guage, he has been through the Hunter Education program. He is very careful and is a darned good shot.
I will be about 500 yards from them in another section of woods. granted his stand is in the best location,he shoots em I will gut em and grind em up.
I made 22 pounds of fresh patty sausage and 30 pounds of burger out of the doe. Plus I made steaks out of the tenders and loins.
I have two friends wanting the heart and liver this time. Then we will have family over at noon for dinner. I figure we will be out of the stands by nine if it is cold.Or atleast the kids, Jake and Mina will be headed to the house. Unless they are seeing deer, but if he is seeing I will be hearing slugs go off.
To those of you going hunting. Good luck and be safe.

Happy Thanksgiving all. Be safe in whatever you do. I wish all of the stores would quit putting up Christmas stuff until after this holiday. It's almost like it does not exist anymore. I am glad that we have it because it allows some of us to spend the day with either family or friends that sometimes we would not get to do. JMO.

Nothing like fresh venison! I hope your son/daughter get to see some deer in the morning. Nothing like hunting for days and not seeing anything to discourage her. Have fun. Even if you/they don't get any deer, have a good T-day and enjoy the time together.
