Has anyone ever used Stihl hand saws?

Their pole pruner is made by these guys: ARS CORPORATION - Products Line Up: Pole Saw
I fired mine recently and bought a Silky. Much better!

I used to have a Stihl lopper that one of my guys bought at a god-awful price. I was really steamed at the time, but that pair of loppers gave me good service for at least 10 years. It turns out someone else made that too, but I cannot tell you the maker.

I think their handsaws are overpriced, since you can buy the same exact tool without their paint for much less. I suppose warranty would probably be better from a Stihl dealer, particularly if they want to keep selling you chainsaws.

I have the stihl ps 90 and I have been pretty happy with it. But for the money my next one will be a silky

They provide us with the stihl handsaws at work. I brought in my own silky. The stihls are alright but the silky is still way better.

I always try to carry a Stihl PS-30 when I'm in the tree. Fast cuts in tight situations. Very sharp but and cuts great (got it across the palm once :msp_scared:) but sometimes tough to fold easily.

My Choice for hand saw is the wooden enclosed handle with the double thick Mondo blade by Fanno. Not the greatest for small fine pruning but everything else and will cut just as fast as any silky saw back to back have tested over and over with many. Half the price and you can re sharpen over and over for a while. Dont think many are sharpening but i do and have for years. some of the bladed come hardened and your not sharpening them unless you have a machine. Just my 2 cents. I use the same blade on my pole saws as well. I cant remember the last time I bought new ones.

PassionforTrees, I was looking through the forum hoping to find someone who used the Fanno Mondo saw and I saw your post. Could you tell me what length yours is, I've seen two sizes in the Fanno hand saw, 13" and I think 16". I'm not sure if they are both the double thick, but that's what I'm interested in, especially because I'd also like to use the blade with my home made pole saw (made from hang glider tubes...about 18' long each). Also what kind of adapter are you using to match the Fanno to your pole saw?

Apologies for jumping into this thread.

Dan
