So far so good this week, knock on wood. Thats how it goes-- free and clear for a while and then a bunch of crap to spend money on ever once in a while.
We tried out a guy Mon. and Tues. to bring on as a faller, I was put on him to evaluate/train etc. . OK guy, but those are easy to come by, did not understand production. WOrked with him Mon., trading off, him to see how I/we do things (was he even watching?) and me judging, er, no, "evaluating".
So Tues I flagged out a block for him. Cherry of a block. About 1 acre, and I bet 4-5 truckloads on it. Nice timber, good volume and height, not bad ground, about 50% slope with a flater area at the bottom, and top. Dude only burnt 1/3 of a gas can all day. And this was his tryout! Think how slow once he felt comfortable around us.
kind of a whiner, sent home today, glad hes gone. Cut about 1/3 speed, NOT who you bring on to cut with you! Just didn't get it, he'll be fine highgrading back with the lil' ol' dozer crews on moderate ground. Bye bye. No mercy.
