They are limited to the mods that can be done, due to the modular crank cylinder design in a one piece. I also watched a project wildthing on another site be built with nitrous.
I just built one out of a craftsman 4218 case and put a 38cc poulan crank, carb, muffler non-epa stuff inside it in 2.5 hours one day, very easy to work on, even changed the throttle routing to run a different carb from throttle on different side.
You can do muffler, carb, exhaust and intake port work pretty easy on them. But thats where it ends for me with the one piece crank cylinder design topends.
My Poulan project saw 38cc Smoked my Stihl project saw 41cc in timed cuts, both using 3/8LP chain and 16" bar. Hence the stihl has been sold.

I forgot

I forgot you might need the proper tool to adjust the carb you can get it from any husky Jred or poulan dealer, The screwdriver for the small splines on the carb mixture screws or just use a tight vacuum hose but I like a tool for every job. Not sure what your wild thing has for mixture screws someone else on here will know.

The revolution will not be televised

Sometimes it is true!

My buddy has a little sthil and he is so pissed that my poulan is faster! I still think if he sharpened his chain it would be better or ran a better chain!

Oh, but I saved the video for proof.:hmm3grin2orange:
Just to long to upload. :biggrinbounce2:

You are preaching to the choir man

I have made a bit of money with some odd brands in grudge cut offs.

I am rebuilding an 028 or may get an 026 to spank a Husky braggarts 362XP

The stock 362 to me is lame-o and he likes to brag a little I told him flat out the 028 would not be stock

I don't understand why people think the MS 200 T is a hot rod either.....better than a 3400 Echo but not the kind of power I want in a top handle.

I am working on that now (top secret)

I muffler modded my dads wild thingy by gutting the muffler and drilling holes in it. I took an O/A torch to the baffle, removed the screen, and drilled two 7/16" holes in the front of the muffler. I set the rpm to 13,200. Seems much quicker, and has held up for 10+ hours so far.

I think it is just a matter of time until it grenades, which is fine because I finally have him talked into buying a real saw when it dies. He is having a lot of fun with it in the meantime.:ices_rofl:

Whatever happened to the thread a while back on the Wild Thingy open mod class at a GTG or race? I thought everyone was gonna buy one, port it to the max, and compete for bragging rights? Must have been back in June -August time.

Anyhow, I think for $100 a guy can't go wrong on his first project saw. I am sure they have lots of potential out of the box - perhaps not much longevity or reliability. I bet a good muffler mod, a bigger carb, .020 squish, some finger ports and a wide intake and (65-70%) exhaust port would wake that saw up.

Paint it White and Orange, see earlier thread on where to find paint and how to apply...
