HELP!!!! Rope piston stop stuck!

I'd try finding the largest wooden dowel that will fit through the spark plug hole and be square to the piston top. Spray some WD-40 inside thew jug to make things slide more readily. Then tap the dowel against the piston top. Start with a small hammer and work your way up.

Bolt the cylinder back down and move it with a socket on the clutch.

I was doing a clutch, thank you everyone for your ideas and patience. I really appreciate it. Well I guess I can check my cylinder for damage now. I'll need a new gasket now or would this be a good time to check squish and just delete the gasket? I'm sure I know the correct answer to this the bolts weren't hard take out with a T handle could I run the back by hand and run it or do I need to actually put a torque wrench on it?

Ok here is the damage nothing that I can tell, I just picked this saw up Sunday for 175.00 on CL how does the bore and piston look on this, it pulls easy starts in 2-3 pulls. Could I just put a piston and ring in since it's apart and call it good ?

If it was me, I'd replace the whole top end. Looks like someone tried to grind out some deep scoring in the cylinder at the intake port. Piston has some deep scoring also. To me, someone patched it up to get it to run and to get rid of it. Also piston has some odd wear, like a sunked spot on it, doesn't jive with the wear around it, picture #1, grinding on the cylinder on picture #3.

Best to check the cranks seal, impulse lines and between the carb and cylinder for any leaks, pressure and vacuum test with cylinder on.

You cylinder is done. The NiSi lining is gone under both the intake and exhaust. You need a complete new topend.

Yepp. that upper need to be replace.
From this points on is not a big deal....just some more money.

Does anyone have a good used Cylinder lying around?

Looks like that saw has been used with a bad air filter and the grit and grime has acted like a cutting compound.
Before you rush out and get a new top end it would pay to check out the crank bearings .
Flush the crankcase out with some fuel mix a couple of times to get all the contaminants out ,pull the piston
off and spin the crankshaft holding the rod it should run smooth ,check for crank movement bearings may be on the way out.

I've never had to jam up a piston. I have pulled dozens of clutches just with using an impact gun or brass drift and hammer.

One one particular stubborn saw, it 'bit' off a chunk of soft wood I used in the exhaust port.

That was fun getting it out.[emoji21]

If you keep the piston above the exhaust port near the top with rope in the cylinder this will never happen. How could it with all the ports covered? Rotating the crank because you have it locked in the wrong direction is how this happens. Pull the rope and set the piston properly.

Been doing it this way for 15 years with the same piece of rope and have yet to jam up a cylinder. I have knots tied in my rope so I don't have pack so much in.
