If I remember correctly, ATDC should be around 100º plus or minus a couple of degrees.

If you have a flat top piston, use a flash light through the spark plug hole for a bit more accuracy when the port begins to open.

Porting your own saws and using them is cool stuff. It is true what they say, once you go modified, there is no turning back.

yup. It all starts with a muffler mod, then a little polishing, then a little widening, next thing your taping pieces of paper to CD's and cutting a bunch of useless discs off of perfectly good firewood. There should be a new disorder called CLIS disorder (cant leave it stock)

Have I come a long way...OOOOOOOOH!

Bring it on folks, a little rep for better porting since my 1st attempt:yoyo:

Metals, I owe you a lot hometown. You were one of the first I got to meet at this forum and you've been a blessing. One of the best genuine guys here! I have to tell you guys a story about when Metals 1st posted on one of my threads. I sent him a pm telling him that I was hoping he didn't mind if I didn't respond to his response hoping to draw in people into the thread cuz he's on of the top dogs around here. When Metals speaks...people listen:clap: That was a cool moment for me...

Try shining the flashlight into the exhaust port and looking through the plug hole. You can see light start to peek when the exhaust port just opens.

TF, that's a good way to double check the duration reading. Good tip!

I dig your piped subliminal messages btw...THIS SAW IS FAST

I don't know about my dog being top... But thanks mang.

I'm serious Nathan. Your welding is tops and your knowledge is stout both in welding and saws.

And I'm a big fan of your Johnsered 670 Super II (Muffler mod):clap::clap:
