I have 2 snags that need to come down ASAP!!! Both snags are leaning on live trees..NOW for my problem, the top of the snags are touching EACH OTHER!!:help:
So I turn to the MORE EXPERIENCED guys on here  for advice and wisdom!!!:yourock:

Just one inexperienced observation.

Can you hook up a chain to the last snag that was fell and put the jeep/truck in 4 low. :givebeer:

Do you have a pic of the situation? Lot of room for the imagination with your description.

Sorry no pics my camara wont work with this laptop, like me its too dam old..:censored: NO way will I hook a chain to them, youtube is loaded with those type F:censored:UPS!!!If it wasnt for the snags touching EACH OTHER they would be down already...

If you can. Set em up. then knock em both down with another tree nearby..

Or

start nip nip nipping till they sir cum to gravity..

1st plan was to set up the good tree(snags leaning on good trees) load with wedge, cut the snag and push the good one!! I figured,do this twice and done!! Then I seen the top of both snags are touching each other(one leans left the other right) NEVER came acrossed this before!!:dizzy:
I will look to see if I can set 4 up and hit with a 5th but i dont know..:monkey:

Missed the utube :censored: classes/video. Was thinking - skidding it out, chaining the butt (notching and chaining above notch to use notch as a hinge if necessary (dug in/hooked on something)) and dragging it alittle, off tree enough to fall.

RRSawshop - can you rope one and pull it away from the other tree? Whats this like a tripod?

O56 kid - nipping works but dangerous. knock em down with another sounds better.

Yea like a tripod But I've cut nothing yet they are still standiing!!

any leaner is sprung loaded,a "snag" leaner can fool you as to how much it is sprung, for it does not bow(a good indicator of sprung)a tree like this when they bust can be a third or even halfway down the trunk!!!!!!wich means the top half of the tree can meet you at the stump or even further?in a matter of not enough time,i call it a doubleback.so whatever you do be prepared, snags are sketchy:confused:

Thanks Bullbuck, there is NO BOW on the cherry!!!

1 Cherry half dead
1 Red maple good....

no chance then of smashing them to the ground then, mabe the cherry but not the Mape..

Unless you got somthing big around.

If they have sound wood in em, go ahead and cut em up and wait. .

the weather will probably get them to surcumb to gravity

Put on your track shoes

How tall are they ,?, what is the ground like ? .. Got a saw that runs ok , but is disposable ,, ???? .. There are times when all the coulds that could happen will get you stuck ... If , you know you can do it , you prolly can . If you don,t think you can , that is prolly God telling you to get good help ....! We arn,t there so all our advice really can,t help too much .................... What is the show , Are they out in the tuimber , or next to a house ???

Got 110% confidence that I could take them,if it wasn't for the (tripod) tops!! They are not near a house or building, they are in a hedgerow corner, near a private woods road!!!Yes I have a saw or 2 that I could sacrifice!!! They are 35' to 45' ground 15 to 20% slope on the cherry and flat on the maple, cherry is on a creek bank with wash out under it"LIMITED ESCAPE" on this one!!!
THANKS TRAMP

Well mother nature didnt cooperate with me today,WINDY with 40 mph gusts,so I left the snags go... But I did go back for yet another look and came up with a plan to get them down..Plan is to get the maples on the ground first, then cut the birch/cherry combo...Basically starting with the bottom most tree and working out...
Maybe I should have use 056s advice "notch them and let mother nature take care of it" with this wind they would have come down today!!! But then again no fun in that!! NOTHING LEARNED!!!:)
