Looks like I need to talk to the guy that owns the land! Having a couple of guys come with me cutting is one thing. Having 6+, well, there'd be some explaining to do if I didn't talk to him in advance. Also, sounds like I need to ask him to show me the other grove he has that has dead fall in it.

He also had some trees removed so a poll barn could be put up. The trees are in a pile. Would that be something you'd be willing to tackle? How many good size trees do you guys think I should have selected? What is a realistic amount that can be cut, hauled, and split in say like 2-4 hours?

I really thank all of you that have indicated that you're coming!  Anyone bring pie? :msp_mellow::hmm3grin2orange:

I believe we will work more than 2 to 4 hours if possible id prefer a full day if im driving. Lets fill that shed!!!

Good idea going to talk to the landowner and explain what you/we would like to do. Some are really laid back and some are down right fussy. Disrespecting him could get you kicked out permanently and you don't want a bad rap with the local farmers, that source of firewood could dry up real quick.
Tuff to say how much we can get cut up. Quite a bit i would imagine depending on the number of people there.
How much snow do you have down there?
The trees removed for the shed, are they "green" or were they dead standing? Is it something you would want to burn this season? They might be the easiest to get to but for that reason you might want to save those for this summer when your feeling up to cutting on your own.

We have 4-6". Not much, but could be getting more. Nothing a 4X4 can't handle.

Yeah, the trees removed are green. He offered them to me when they were standing, but I wanted to focus on burnable stuff. We can tackle them if we have enough guys.

This farmer seems to be laid back, but I will inform him.

Thanks again guys!

I will try to assemble a crew and make it over on that date. I also have a 16' dump trailer if needed-but with a long box crewcab truck it is not the most nimble thing in the woods!

My truck is looking for something to pull! That will keep me out of trouble by driving instead of feeling like I should be helping load or what ever!

We'll only be hauling at most 2 miles one way.

I have my eye on some other groves too, but haven't talked to the land owners yet.
