I know it aint in the beautiful, pristine northern forest,
but it's my largest white pine to date
47" across at my felling cut,
100 to 110 feet tall
and approx 2,763 bf

It ain't a log until you flush those stubs. Looks like an arborist limbing job! :p
Looks like a nice straight stem, gonna get it milled up?

newfie, those limbs were cut while climbing the tree
it was leaning over a house and most of the top needed roped down
I flushed them when I bucked it to length
Too big for me and my little mill, so I sold it to another mill

Dan, a swing blade would cut it easily
the mill I sold it to has a circular saw and he cant handle it
He's bringing in a guy with a woodmizer LT40 (cuts 36") to trim it down first

here's a link to a Peterson in action

http://www.petersonsawmills.com/mill_ops_video_index.htm

the drawback with them is being limited to an 8" or so cut

newfie, what do you think I got for that log?

2700 BF around here w/ big red knots like that probably 400-500 bucks tops. What did you get?

Just busting your stones about the stubs. ;)

"Comes A Time"

Comes a time
when you're driftin'
Comes a time
when you settle down
Comes a light
feelin's liftin'
Lift that baby
right up off the ground.

Oh, this old world
keeps spinning round
It's a wonder tall trees
ain't layin' down
There comes a time.

You and I we were captured
We took our souls
and we flew away
We were right
we were giving
That's how we kept
what we gave away.

Oh, this old world
keeps spinning round
It's a wonder tall trees
ain't layin' down
There comes a time.

I just received an info packet from Peterson. Very cool machines, and very portable too.

Petersen Machines

That looked like alot fun. I didn't see anywhere for pricing but curiosity beckons. Anyone know how much?

How about 'Natural Beauty'?

Neil Young is great even if he is from Canada
Hi Dan, what a coincidence! The lyrics I posted were just what popped into my head, even though I knew it was the wrong answer, however, I didn't know that Young also wrote the lyrics to the one you posted.
Go figure!
