Wow, kf, your boots are even more critical than for the ret of us. I've always claimed bootwear to be my most critical tool, but for you it's literally the difference between being able to work, and not being able to work.

and i didn't even get that far into it.......last year i had a nerve removed from my left foot, it was getting pinched between the bones. talk about seeing stars. the right foot bothers me now and then, eventually i'll need to get that one removed. it's just genetics, the bones in my feet are very close together.

Correct me if If wrong. What do steel toes do for you while in a tree other than hinder you. Sure, it makes sense on the ground but in a tree it's just plain stupid. I'm partial to Danner mountain light's or explorers myself. Both have a steel shanks (the item that counts when on spurs). Just my opinion, others may differ.

Thanks Stephen. I was telling Elizabeth, earlier this evening, that I was going to order a pair of custom climbing boots from England. She about had a cow.

Hey Dirt Troll, I'm on your side of the crown here. Steel toes in the trees, no thank you. I would climb a pair of steel-toed boots, just for the experiment of it, but honestly, layer me some kevlar across the front end, but I just can't see steel. Keep the steel in the shank, like Clearance says.

Some sectors of our industry require steel-toed boots, but I'm unsure when if or ever it applies to climbers.
