I looking for a source for the Homelite 240 with a 20" 3/8LP .050 Gauge 70 drive links. Uses Oregon A061 mount.

Already tried Oregon, Stens, and Carlton. Just hoping someone know of another possible source.

I have a couple of 240/245 saws and a 20" bar is far more than a 240 can handle with only 39 cc's. This may be why you have been unable to find a one for it. That saw will be much better off with a 14" or 16" bar.

Didn't know engine size. It just what is currently on the saw now that the customer brought in and is a Homelite labeled bar. I can still get the 16"length. I see if he is willing to downsize the length if not then he will get a custom chain length made by another shop; just not enough volume to justify the tools.

This guy constantly putting the wrong bar or chain on every saw he has. I have tried to educate him about this; just won't listen. Driving me BANANAS but he is at least paying the bills:). I am beginning think he is just buying and reselling saws. There have been 15 different saws in the shop from him.

I do not think Homelite or Oregon made a 20" bar and chain for the Model 240. I have Oregon 16" hard nose bars 160-LAXA-061 or12" 120LAXA-061. You can use any pitch chain for a hard nose bar. I have 16" Homelite bars P.T. 3/8 pitch noses 14" and 16". Also have Homelite P.T. bars with 1/4 pitch noses.

When those saws were new thay came with a 16" stock. But there was a coupon in the store for a free 18" bar and chain. Of course, even that was overkill for the saw but free is free.

No, I don't have a 20" and after thinking about it, don't think Homelite made one.

Thanks for the help guys...I will try to get the customer to let me know something when he comes back in. Went back out and remeasured the bar and sand through all the rust and it is a 18" instead of a 20" so downsizing to the 16" won't be so bad. Should done that in the first place instead listening to him but he should known what he got.

Please forgive me I am still making newbie mistakes but I am getting better. I have only working on chainsaws a few years professionally. I have use saws and repaired my own saws since I was 16 now 54. Boy it is a lot more involved then most people thinks. Never knew there was so many different bars and chains out there.

The customer has no phone and comes when he decides to. Now just a waiting game. Again thanks fellows.

A 20" bar for that saw was available. Found photographic evidence in a photobucket account set for public veiwing.

At this point we only know that it appears someone hung a 20" bar on the saw. I would like to see some factory literature to show it was actually an option.

Never said HOMELITE intended it. Just said it is possible.

The 250 [UT-10681] used the same bar mount and was available in a 20" .325 Power Tip bar. So with a sprocket and chain swap, it will work. PT-20321-G6 is the part number.
