Congrats! Check the intake boot first thing. That is a weak point just like the modern saws today. They are still available new but a bit spendy.
Will do. The saw runs fine and I made a couple cuts but it really did not have time to come up to full operating temp.

WOW... that was fast...:msp_mellow: Glad a few people turned you on to the saw...:dizzy:
Got to blame ya'll for that. I really had no interest in a 8800 until my PM box exploded after I posted in the EBAY/CL thread, in the short time I left the post up I received PM's from 8 different members. I figured there must be something "special" about these saws and I needed to seek one out.

Congratulations! Keep your ad up and find me one...
Ad is still up and I have put the word out with all the local dealers to keep a eye out for me.

Nice saw, if the scratches on the starter cover bother you, a NOS one has been on e-Bay for a while.

There is a story behind those scratches. Seems his young grandson thought that Pawpaw's chainsaw needed some pretty designs, not sure what he was going for but it adds character.

You got an AWESOME saw! I agree, its time to buy yourself a lottery ticket, cause you're on a roll!

The CL 8800 lead I had fizzled out this morning. Turns out the person who responded was only 15 years old and his daddy was none to happy when I called about buying the saw. Back on the hunt again.

I had also said I thought I knew who bought the pair yesterday but it turns out that I do not. I talked to the feller this morning and he had never even heard of a Homelite 8800.
I have a homelite 8800 bought new used one winter hasn’t been ran in 20 yrs it has very few hrs on it still have original bar and chain on it that came with the saw when bought
