Pulled another one off the parts shelf--Super Wiz. Came to me complete but dirty. It was disassembled and the pieces here and there. I gathered it all up, cleaned it, got spark. Just needs a fuel tank which is on the way. Tank was horribly shellaced, had the wrong color side cover and that cover had a broken screw or 2 which I don't feel like fooling with. Added the bow, which is aftermarket, but seems to be made for the large Homelite mount. The only other thing I plan to do is to swap in a 2:1 gear set to go with the .404 sprocket. Currently has 3.84:1.

Super Wiz is done and running quite well. Also, grabbed this 7-19C which is quite nice. Only thing not original are a couple of fasteners on the flywheel cover.

I laid out my gear sets for the 3 ratios these saws came with. 2, 2.84, and 3.57:1. Depending on the year, you could have a wider drum, clutch and cover. My older 6-22, 5-20 and 17 have a narrower gear cover and couldn't accommodate the wide drum. It can work the other way around.

Buddy picked this up cheap at auction, missing a few parts: 5-30N. It was stuck but didn't take much to free up and it has awesome compression. I'll be acquiring the missing parts--belt, belt cover, air filter and cover--to work on next year. The bar and chain that came with it was junk but I dug out a good setup.

No progress towards making it run but I did gather the missing parts for the 5-30N: belt cover, air filter and cover, even the handlebar bracket (which forced the handlebar back to square.)

For the PTO side 72413 seal, pretty sure I used this Dichomatik seal 09311809VM. Measures .937x1.183x.094
Don't recall what I did for the flywheel side seal 71110, but I found that somebody substituted CR 7410 which is .75 x 1.0 x .125. The CR seal doesn't use a garter spring. You'll have to check the original.

I redid a 5-30 a couple years ago and know that I used the Dichomatik, but I don't know if I found a NOS seal or what I did.

Suggest you get your new seals in hand to compare before you pop out the old ones.

One of my buddies has the bearing shop in the big city.

I tried some seal restoration oil on them see if that works but not holding out a lot of hope

Seal restoration oil? As cheap as new seals can be, better to replace them. Remember, that saw is 75 years old.

I have a 5-30n that I’ve been picking away at for awhile. It runs but floods out. Need ti pull the carb someday.

That belt and cylinder shroud is worth more than the saw!

If you've never been in an HP carb, you're going to love it. It's possible you have a Brown carb. All the saws I own, I haven't encountered one of those. The only carbs I despise are the old Carters found on Remingtons and Wrights. Impossible to make one run well for long.

It’s an HP. Believe it’s the “later” version. It’s slightly different than the HP on my pioneer HM but looks to be the same system overall. The HP diagrams I have show only a few small differences. Hopefully it’s just hard diaphragms and not a needle and seat.,

I can tell you they all use the same metering diaphragm. Mine has the small pump diaphragm.

These old cans have been catching my eye. I don't know how many versions there are, but 2 part numbers are used between the 4. Neat to see the progression of saw models illustrated.

I finally got this Super XP1130 Automatic running properly. Was running lean and erratic. Assumed an air leak would be the culprit. Spent a little while chasing my tail. Found a big chunk of gunk under the large Welch plug. Had me stumped for a bit. 99.999% of the Welch plugs I’ve popped were a waste of time. Go figure the one you don’t is a problem. Now to get a bar and chain sorted!

I also do not immediately pull the welch plugs either.

I have a method of removing them for re-use if I do not have a spare.
