A 26 LCS question
I got a seal for the flywheel side that was leaking and installed it.
Then I pressure tested again and found a hole in the crankcase that leaked under pressure. It is on the edge close to the belt case.
Is this a case where it’s supposed to be open ? The parts saw I have has a casting mark but no hole
Thanks

Doing some thinking, but can you see the crank moving through that hole?
Because, I believe that should be the outer race of the main bearing visible.

Edit: I take that back. The bearing is the raised area to the left of that hole. Must be looking at the crank between the bearing and the seal.

Here's my 26. The only port I know of is for the tank pressure line. Maybe your case came off something else.

I thought I had gotten back to you on this, but I can't find my post, so I probably messed it up somehow.
Anyway my 26 does have that hole in the case, and it appears to go clear to the crankshaft. My saw turns over with compression, but it's missing some pieces, so I've never tried to start it. It looks, however, as if it was used with that hole open; there is no provision for plugging it.
Thanks Jay
The one I am fixing is like that.
If you are looking for parts let me know as I have a saw for parts which is like CB’s saw
I can’t remember by the serial numbers which is the newer saw.

You can see something which I assume is the crank but haven’t looked to see it moving.
I am pretty sure it’s all original to the saw as the case shows no sign of being worked on, but they are 50-60 years old

Thanks Jay

I will surely be needing some parts, thanks for the information. Now that I know of a potential source, maybe I can try to determine what is missing from mine. I know it needs a cylinder shroud and a muffler, it also needs some throttle linkage parts, but I'll need to locate an IPL to figure that out.
