Just got my newly rebuilt 925 up & running today.

Bill, I noticed you were on board..............

Question: I set the hi & lo side @ 1 turn open for the initial setting.

I have the hi side @ aprox 3/4 open perhaps a tad less & it still seems a little rich. I get a little nervous going much leaner than that. "How low" can i safely go ???

I wanted to set it a "Little rich" as i put new rings in it.

Otherwise she seems OK Idles good & cuts strong, just seems rich on the hi side.

Stopped by 2 dealers on the way home tonight to pick up a new 24" loop of Oregon 72 LP & neither one of them would sell it to me. They told me that I dont need it & its only for "Experienced pros."............................................

I'm sure not a PRO, but ive been cutting wood for longer than both of those shops have been around.

I don't recall the high setting my SXL-925's comfortable at, but rich is rich. Leaning it out to a normal are/fuel ratio won't hurt anything as long as it stays where you put it.

If it really is running abnormally rich, try getting a new brass check valve for the carb. Tiny little thing with a rubber disc in it. Almost no one's heard of them. My little-used 111S has this problem. It runs on the ball at about 1/3 turn out. I plan on fixing it but I never use a saw this big.

Good luck with the 925. Be careful or the yahoos here will be sending you pianos to cut. :blob2:
