they were both great in their hey-day; they are both junk now. (i would choose a new mac over a saw that looks like it should come with a order of fries and be eaten by a 3 year old.)

'Cause MACS RULE!!!:chainsaw::chainsaw::chainsaw:

Actually, as nmurph said, both were great in their day, and both aren't worth crossing the street for today. Sad to see so many great American companies go down the toilet like that. :dizzy:

My first power saw was a Mac 3-25. Was tempermental, but was alot better than a cross cut saw. Cut lots of firewood with it before its demise. Wish I could find another good 3-25 to add to my collection.

I have about an equal number of Homies as Macs now, 10 - 12 of each.
During the late 50's and 60's we used more Homies than Macs, so I would lean toward Homelites. But have had good service from both of them.

Both made great saws back in the day, but the last homelite I had was the easiest to use and it ran great before it crapped out. :( It always started easy and cut nicely.

Now they both make crap saws, and it is very sad to see companys like them sell out to box stores. And we've even got names like John Deere being sold by Home Depot and Lowes now? John Deere tractors are supposed to be the best. And now they are pieces of junk from a box store. And husqvarna tractors, too? Next they'll be selling Husky saws at a Home Depot.

I know the homelite super 66 and 88 were vibrating piles of junk. Around here they called them box saws. Because when you left the job site the saw was in pieces in a box. The McCullochs had better casted housings and would stay together. I have not run a 2100 super but I have a 795 and sp125 macs and they are very good saws even for today's standards.

I can't vote on this one.... they both made awesome saws and they both made some turds. Like any other company does.....

I'm voting Homelite, today, because I don't have any Macs yet.

I like your quote of "Yet".... LOL

The yellow fever will grow on you. After you buy your first mac.

Don't ask how I know and how much it going to cost me! LOL :cry:

As I am only looking for clean macs for my collection. It is going to cost me a arm and a leg! :dizzy:

And don't get me started on how much it is a P.I.T.A. to find nice and clean poulan 306a and 245a!!! Arggghh!
