I have my father's old XL12 and the manual oiler is not working. I have pulled all the lines off, and they are all clear. Both check valves seam to be in good condition. But she still will not pump. With the saw apart, I see just a little oil and bubbles coming from the 'oil port' where it should be squirting onto the chain.

So, I have ordered both new check valves, new plunger, plunger spring, plunger o-ring, and rubber pick up tube (for inside the oil tank). I figure this should take care of the problem and make this system last for another 30 years.

The big question is, what is the trick to remove the oil plunger??? I thought at first there was a seam running through the plunger area ... but now realize that this is a seam in the casting. The plunger on this one is all plastic (think I have seen them partially brass as well). Tried to gently turn it, but that did not work. Pulling up does nothing. The UT# for this saw is 10445A.

Thanks for the advice,

Ed S

Ed: Look for a pin that goes through the rear of the pump casting. After removing this pin the plunger can be extracted.

galde - Thanks for the response. Took another quick look tonight and I think I found it. Looks like it is half covered by the right side half of the handle. I'll pop the handle off tomorrow and see what I can find. I looked and looked at the parts breakdown and I sure couldn't figure it out.
