Recently got into the chainsaw collecting/repairing hobby and have picked up a couple McCullochs, Poulans, Sears, and Pioneer saws. Looking to pick up a Homelite soon. Found a couple Homelites near me (XL12 and 360) that look decent.

Which saw would be better to pick up? What are the big differences between the two?

I’d go for the XL12 personally. I own 2 XL12s and 5 Super XLs as well as an XL500, they are a great series of saws, well built. My grandpa has a 360, like most of the old 360 series saws do, I had to replace the intake boot on it.

360 if works and you want to have in collection. but I wouldn’t use it to cut, as said airboot, plus unique ignition system make it difficult to service, best as a shelf queen.
Xl12 can use more reliable and lots of parts out there

Ok cool, sounds like I should look for a good XL12 then over the 360. There's a couple XL12's near me currently, but the prices are just a little too high. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a good deal. Looks like a cool saw to have!
