I heat my home and shop with wood. Prior to stumbling onto arborist site. I had one saw:a husky 246. It's a great little saw and met my needs but I wanted a 24" for bigger wood. After lots of posts and help, I went with a 7900,(that I love). Ok, now I'm covered, I don't need anymore saws. A few weeks later there is a P85 partner advertised in the local paper. Well, It couldn't hurt to do a search on AS to learn more; it's looks like a cool saw I guess I should jump on it. Now I'm set for life with three good saws. Wouldn't you know it a nice husky 2100 comes up in a farm paper. How often do you see those in minnesota. You know that might be good for big wood, then I could put a 20" on the 7900; it makes perfect sense to buy the 2100. Now the issue when I cut wood is which saws to take with. most likely the 246 or 7900 is all I need but what if there is a big log that would make my 2100 happy, I guess I'd better take that too. Perhaps there will be a dirty log that I can use the partner and semi chisel chain on. OK i'll take that with as well. Now when I load my truck, I have to leave a nice space for all four saws. DOn't want to risk having a big log roll onto the saws so I'll haul a little less and stack it real nice. Now I have an old Mall and a couple of old homies. When I get those going, I don't want to neglect them either. I may need a trailer to haul just saws. Is this normal? Have I strayed down a dangerous path?:greenchainsaw:

It's perfectly normal :D
No danger what so ever on that path !!!!

welcome to my world. When I joined, all I had was the Mighty Farm Boss. I had all the saw I'd ever need! Now I find myself comparing specs of the saws I have to find a gap on cc, bar length, HP, or powerhead weight to justify my next saw. That I don't need... This place sucks (in the second best way possible).

Its affected my cutting/work in that I now spend more time than ever thinking about which saw to buy next.

Pretty sure I will buy about 4 new saws this coming year. Why? Mostly just to try them and see for myself, as the nine I have already all do a fine job.

Did that on the 7900 and recently pulled the trigger on a second one. Still may need one more to pack away if the EPA makes them go away in current form.

Greed and fear.

AS hasn't changed anything for me after I joined, but my eyes were set on the MS361 and Husky 372xp just from reading, before I joined.....

AS is a BAD place. :)

I had a Husky 55 that I had used for 5 years until I ran out of my good gas with Husky oil and used some old Homelite gas for the weedwacker, which was also probably 4 months or more old. Then about 6 cuts later and poof the engine died and off I went to the local saw shop. They said for about $200 they could get it up and running with a new C/P. So off I searched for another saw and I stumbled onto this site. Ended up getting a new Husky 359 online for $400 plus shipping. Then while the 359 was in route I saw an Ebayer have a C/P for $65 and thought that I could then fix-up the 55 and have 2 saws. Not sure if I could do it I found another member here from Placerville help install the C/P and up and running was my 55. My wife then said now what are you going to do with 2 saws and I said now a friend can help me saw:) Being on here almost daily I had heard this thing about modifying mufflers. So I thought to myself that sounds like what I need after all I have a MAPP gas torch. Little did I know I ended up buying a Oxy/Acc torch and fixed up my 2 little saws. Now they are wood burners if they get to close to the logs for to long. Then I remembered about my dads old Homelite XL Automatic. I went over to my mom's and picked it up. Its now running and needs a new chain. Then I found out that I have 6 chains that are anti-kick chains (whats with that) I need something that cuts like butter but can handle some dirt. Once again I'm in research mode for my 20 inch bars. I have also been lurking for a small 7-9 lbs saw for the small stuff. I have also my old 55 cylinder that should clean up nicely so I just got a new Husky piston off Ebay for $5 and am now looking for a 51 or 55 that needs work. This place is a resource of help and information. Thank you all.

All I had was a discounted $99 poulan that I bought to cut up a tree that fell in a storm.

Wasn't quite enough to manage all the firewood and 70+ wooded acres...
Cut to a few months later, I have at least 7 good running saws, a couple projects, and a half a dozen parts saws. :jester:

This site is evil ...RUN!!!

I came to the owning two saws, an 028 wood boss and an 036. Since joining the site I have owned up to 24 saws at one time, granted most were for resale but I never would have done it without the previledge of the knowledge here. Now I'm down to 5 and 1/2 personal saws which will hopefully be 6 once I get going on the rebuild of the 064.

My current prodject is dreaming up reasons to get a 5100s. My husky 246 is running strong and my main saw when cutting firewood. What if something terrible and unexpected happens to the 246? If I had a new 5100s, I would have a 50cc limbing saw ready and waiting.

Yup, same here. Came to AS happy with two saws and maybe looking for a third. A few months later I have five.
