Serious question here. I've got 4 saws and I'd like to store them more efficiently than keeping them on the floor where they get tripped over and take up lots of room.

Are there any groovy racks you pros use to keep your saws from taking up too much room? Also is there any best postition to store them in? Usually I keep them on their sides so any leaking oil or gas cap doesn't goop up the floor.

Pictures welcome....

I hang my saws in the shead,on a plastic coated hook,by the handle. I place a small tin pan under them on the floor to catch any excess oil or gas runoff.

I purchased a industrial self unit with 5 shelves on it. Holds about 6-8 saws depending on the size of each.

My house is adorned with saws, on the fridge, in the cupboards, on the speakers, under the bed, in the bed, and on the toilet tank, and why shouldn't they be?

What we did in our shop was take an 18" diameter Fir log, 10' long, and stand it upright, and bore into it, and stick the saws in there via their bars, so it looks like a giant fence post with everyone's saws just hangin' in there.

I have the scars on my back to prove that John really keeps a saw on the toilet tank...Rick/Creep

Some good ideas here.

I think I will make a strong shelf/platform on which I'll set my (heavy) Solo 690 in a shallow pan to catch the drippings (it leaks). Then, underneath the shelf, I'll hang my 3 other (lighter saws) by hooks from their handles and put pans under them.

That should be a good economical way to store them and keep oil soaked floors to a minimum too. It'll look cool too.

Thanks for the ideas!

all packed in quite snuggly and locked up
in a couple of 1/4" thick walled under body boxes to keep them from growing legs or wings in the early am. :(

Locked tool boxes on the trucks or as we call them saw boxes.

Anything from old carpeting to cardboard, even old jeans to keep it from becoming a oily, sawdust mess.

If their in the shop, their on shelves or under the work bench. If their on the shelves their rain day or winter projects, I'm way behind on these some have been on the shelf for 4 yrs. If their under the bench quickie repair stuff.

Gypo Logger,

You must not be married!! Now that is interior decorating treeman style. :D :blob2:

I store them in boxes like ax-man, but on the job I stick them into a stump so they don't get dragged with the brush or ran over or whatever. I have stihls and they don't leak normally.
