How many hp is good for pulling 15-20k lb?

What kind of engines have people had luck with when it comes to 15-20k lb payload? I've got a lot of hills around here, and I know I should beef up a little extra in the motor compartment, so I'm not beating up the truck and prematurely wearing out the motor etc.

250+ hp auto or 200-300 hp stick in a 450/4500-650/6500 series truck, I have a 230 hp 5+2 C6500 and it will tow my loader behind it with 10 ton of stone on the truck (40k lbs)
