How many splits?

When you split all day sometimes it gets boring. Plus I like to think of how long those pieces will keep a house warm.

I sometimes play the guessing game to how many rounds I'll get out of a log. A few years ago I had a guy working for ne that liked to bet on it. The looser would buy lunch.
He never did figure out I'd cheat a bit and make the rounds a bit longer or shorter haha!

You're not the first person to say length played a role in number of splits but I've never figured out how because I still produce the same size splits unless it's for the rare owb order I get....love those btw.

I actually had a few people ask and I was semi curious.

My bundles usually have 7-8 pieces and I get about 100 bundles to a cord. Those are split a bit smaller than I do for bulk wood though.

Never got around to doing bundles even though I'm aware the profit margin is much higher. Just can't find the time. Seems I'm always behind where I want to be.

I've never understood splitting into the tiny size? I don't sell wood so maybe what customers want?

Small wood dries faster. It also packs tighter in the stove for overnight burning. I'm not fond of 3am stove duty. My wife, even less so.
