I've been piling not stacking. I've got a pretty good bit worked up now but I have no clue how much I have lol. Any one have any idea how to calculate this? I know a lot of commercial firewood operations do it this way but never heard how they know how much there is. Would appreciate some help here. I'm never in the mood to stack and my stacks would not be very uniform anyway due to different lengths of splits for various reasons. I'll get some pictures in a bit but it's really hard to show the size.

Lol so true. Here's a few pics. First pile is my personal use pile right by my outside boiler. A good bit of wood in it that other people may not want to burn in inside stove or fireplace but fine for me.

Second pile out back is pretty much all good wood that can be sold if I choose. There's a 55 gallon drum and 5 gallon bucket to help show perspective.

My outside boiler doesn't care. It'll probably rot a little too if that makes you feel better lol

Very true lol so all these commercial firewood guys that make piles, most of which I don't see putting it on pallets or anything, do they have a magic way of not letting theirs rot? Not trying to be a smart Aleck. Just wondering lol

And I'm sure they're putting it on gravel or concrete which is definitely a lot better than on grass! Lol I'll give you that!_

It doesn't stay there long enough to rot. It comes in and goes out. Gets stacked in the trailer for a fair accurate measurement. Thrown in my smaller trailer holds half a cord. Stacked a whole cord.

Thank you! OK well, like I said rotted stuff will burn in my boiler...

Ain't that the truth Woody! When it ain't raining it's super humid out here, gotta be really motivated to work in this crap lol. Yesterday I split for about 4 hours or so, was soaking wet had pulled my shirt off, got some sun, then did a garden hose shower. Then got second set of clothes wet after lunch, changed again lol. And it never rained. I think the ol lady is gonna kill me for all the laundry jk lol she's understanding grew up in a house like that her dad and brother did the same thing.

I estimate roughly between 12 and 14 cords total.
I like that answer a lot better than 6 lol. I had asked this question on a Facebook page and got some math guy that came up with 6 based on me stepping off the diameter and guessing height.

The ones who are concerned with delivering true seasoned wood will turn their piles.
