how the bad deal went down

The saga of the husky 55 i just got..
A few days ago a friend of mine was cleaning up and was throwing away an OLD apple/macintosh laptop..now i'm talking OLD,,200 mhz slow,12 in screen,basicaly useless...
So i put it on CL to trade for any broken chainsaws or parts,i figure junk for junk,my trash somebody else's treasure and visa versa..i posted the model number of it so it could be looked up and see what it was,also posted a pic of it turned on..
got a LOT of replies and i was picking and choosing what was offered when a guy emailed me he had a NICE running husky 55 rancher he would trade for it..said it was an older one and he bought a new one and didnt need it anymore..catch was he was a 2 1/2 hr drive away..he didnt like that but after talking to him and making sure he knew what the laptop was and him saying the saw ran nice i offered to give him $25 for gas if we met and made the deal..so one more phone call when he was leaving to give directions on where to meet him was made and he told me he was running a little late but would be there..he showed up and i let him use a power adaptor from cigg lighter to test laptop..he started his truck to run it and checked out the laptop and said he would take it and did i have the gas money ?? i said yes and where is the saw ? he said in the back..i saw a big husky box with a bar sticking out and the top of the saw.he handed me the power adaptor and as i was putting it in my car he took the box out and shut the door and handed me the box..now all this time his truck is running with the door open..i look in the box and say "it's all apart ! " he says yes,i was cleaning it up to make it look good to sell and didnt have time to put it back together..while he is saying this he is backing up to his open door,i thot he was going to shut his truck off and talk about it but he got in and shut the door an pulled out in front of a Tracktor trailer truck getting away !!
So i'm standing there holding a box of parts looking inside it and watching this guy drive off and wondering WTF ??
well,i didnt know what to think,all took me by surprise..
I take the box home ( 5 minits )to see what i got $25 into anyway..
first thing i notice is the shop tag on it ! LOL !!
everything was done just as i was told to do when i posted asking what tools i would need to take with me to pull the muffler off this saw to look inside..the shop saw what i did and probly told him to much to fix so he went looking for somebody to dump it on..
i posted pix in another thread and took suggestions and cleaned the cyl and piston and put a ring on it,,will try to fire it up tomorrow..
Now WHY would somebody make a FIVE hour drive only to get gas money back and a, as he knew OLD not good for much laptop ?
funny thing is i would have given him the same deal if he told me the truth !!! it's only $25 to me for a bunch of parts !! then he takes off like he robbed a bank..bet HE thinks he really got away with something !!..what gets me is the way he LIED ...
i hope the sorry SOB is happy with himself..
I will be when i end up with a nice $25 and price of a ring saw

Somewhere on the world wide web is a computer forum full of techies BSing about nothing and a member is telling his kick butt story on how he scored a laptop for $25 and got rid of a junk saw sitting in his garage.

WHY,why,why,would anybody go through THAT much trouble to make such a small score ??.. was he to "stupid" to google the model number and check it out ?? was he to stupid to know he was giving a "fair" deal anyway ? the list goes on..
EVIL ?? dont know about that,,may be considered normal behavior where he is from..have met a lot of people from his area and nation wide they are known for being "different"..
anyway,,at least "I" will sleep good tonite with clear conscience..

I dont think he had it at his place,he would have at least taken the time to put the bar on and tighten up screws !
i "think" he picked it up at the shop on the way and didnt even notice the shop tag !..
BTW !!! just "happened" to be on CL looking for saws in his state same day and saw his ad for it,$200,,same phone # !!
now THATS stupid !!
for $175 more i could have bought it all assembled ! LOL !!
