i have a 757 thats about 7 years old, i am just a recreational wood cutter but its time to give the old girl the once over. has a 24" bar and stock chain. what would be a good combo for this. the bar is as big as i need to go. also what about some power mods.

i just purchased a cub cadet 16" chain saw new for $200 and was wondering if i got a deal and who makes these. it was on clerance and now am wondering about parts in the future.thanks Ruffie:deadhorse:

My brother has a 757 Shindaiwa with a 28" bar. I have ran it a few times and I think it is a great saw, very powerful and smooth. You will find most on this board don't think too much of Shindaiwa saws but I think they are great. I have a couple of 350's and had a 575 until someone stole it! My only advice on your saw would be look at the muffler and see if there is a way to open it up if you want more power. I have Stihl saws now because of the dealer support they offer a MS260, MS361, and a 044. I hope you get some other advice from the site to make your 757 better.

Although they don't give you any brag rights in the Stihl vs Husky argument (and that alone might be a plus!) the Shindaiwa saws have a reputation for being solid.

I don't think I've heard anything bad about them.

A few extra holes in the muffler, a bit of a tune up, 20 minutes with the files, and you should have an impressive saw!
