I hope I do not get banned for this. I sometimes go to other forums. But, I hardly ever go to them. So, last week my hard drive crashed. I lost everything. I go to them other places so little I can not even remember what they were called. Would it be ok for other members to email me the links to other saw sites? The baddest thing of all was all the great pics I took and had stored on that HD. Does anyone also have all the pics from the Art Martin thread saved? Or will I just have to go back and save them again.
On another note. Can anyone recommend a good way to back up a system other then burning disks all the time?
Thanks All
Bob

Search and google cash, good luck don't never know what you can find stashed off in dusty corners of the web..

Raid drive setups, essentially an extra hard drive used just for back up, makes an updated image of your working hard drive.

Hey, Bob, sorry about your machine.
You can get a big external hard drive that connects via USB, and it will copy the entire drive on a scheduled basis, or the folders you select.
Some of em are under $100, depending on storage size.
All the electronics places have em.

Yeah, and dvd burners are pretty cheap now, and last week I picked up a 1 gig flashdrive at Walmart for around $30. I like the dvd option, backup on occasion and store in a remote location and in my safe in case of fire.

Thanks for the back up ideas guys. I sure was not expecting a crash with a higher end machine. I used to only buy the 500 or less ones. Most of them ran non stop for 2 to 3 years. The HP was only 13 mo old. Lessons learned. I like the idea of burning to dvd and stashing away some where esle to be safe too. But, now I got a good upgrade to the machine and it seems faster too. Went from a 200gb 8 mb cache to a 250gb 18mb cache and a faster seek speed.
Bob
