Anyone know anything about them? I need to replace two (maybe three) pawls on an old Husky 2101 flywheel (SEM) and I notice in the IPL that there's a repair kit. I assume it's used when the pawl hole mount is slogged out, but I don't have access to any husky tech info that tells me anything about it.

Also... is there any way to relate a serial number to a particular Husky IPL? In Stihl land it's on the IPL, but...

And.... also have a 2100CD where the crank end rubs on the rotor post... can't immediately see why, but it does.. ????????

Let's see, the post is getting rubbed? It may be the wrong starter (298 is different) or the thin air deflector is left off from the assembly. The deflector fits behind the starter. Second, be sure the nut is tight to the flywheel and the wheel is all the way down on the taper. Check to see if the post has turned a little in a counterclock wise direction and is sticking out farther. If none of these then check for the spacers and washers on the clutch side. If any of them are missing the crank shaft could conceivably shift toward the flywheel.
Don't have the oversized pawl holders but can sell you a good flywheel and you can fit your regular ones to it for $20. Mike

Interesting - my just-acquired 2101 is doing the same thing (rubbing) and when I took it apart I noticed the air deflector was in fact missing. The starter has a tough time grabbing too, but 2 of three pawls are in good shape (the third is broken). I figured it must be the missing air deflector causing the problem . I've got one coming - hope it fixes the problem.

Looks like I'm also missing two air deflectors. It's always harder to figure out what's wrong when you get saws in pieces!

Hi, Mike, nice to see you......Andy, I have seen people "shim" the starter on these saws with washers to compensate for the lack of the air dams....they are pretty hard to find.

I got the air deflector today, installed it and it seems to be a complete cure-all. It's amazing what the right parts will do!

It's a brute! I can see why Husky started putting decomp valves in their bigger saws :)

Saw gets a new chain today. I may go down to the 33" bar though - this one's a wee bit big for the mill.

Nikko.
