I don't know much about the older husky's below the old model 272..I was in a pawn shop today and found a Husky chain saw.I know it wasn't a 261,I have one of those, and I don't think it was a 262..Was there a model 268?I know it was a 260 something, the last number was missing. The saw ran good and they were asking $250.Would this be a good deal?..If it is one of the rare old husky hot rods I may go back Monday morning and get it.

Check put the metal ID tag on the saw. Pawn shop saws may not have ID tags. Pawn shop saws that are sold on e-bay always seem to be high. I'd start at $125. to be safe. You know saws. Good luck.

Provided it looks about like the 272xp, and thus is a 162 family saw, it could be:

266se/sg, 266xp/xpg, 268se/sg (rare, but known to exist), 268xp/xpg, or just plain 268 (open port, newer than the others).

The serial number will most likely tell when it was made, and rule out some of the options......

The 262xp/xpg was made on a smaller frame (154 family), the 261 is a downrated version of that one.
