Rich,
They are definitely not garbage. Oiler problem long since fixed, tank venting improved, spark plug cover stays on now, brakes may still give out after a while, I'm not sure. Starting and idling difficuluties still develop on most saws after a year or so of use. Most dont have the power or reliability of a good 020T, which I resist using due to higher weight, cost, lanyard attachment, carb location, etc. I may get a 335 Ca. special, but will hang to see how soon the new husky comes out, and how much improved it is. Likely it will continue in the improving mold of the 357, and 385.
My new Walkerized 335 is a beast!!!Easily cuts 30 % faster.
I tore down one of my old ones that had become impossible to start. Before it lost compression, it was a very strong runner, better than the few 020T's I compared it with. Cylinder is still fine, piston a bit worn. I'll rebuild the carb, change the boot, replace the piston and ring, maybe the bearings, and seals, and should have a winner for $100-130. Not bad for three years of hard use.
