I'm interested in this saw for cutting up wooden pallets. I currently use a Poulan 1800 top handle to accomplish this task, due to the light weight. I prefer the feel of a rear handle saw though, due to the extra control. What appeals to me about the 336 is the light weight.

I know Echo has a similar rear handle saw, and I've run their 340 and 300 top handled saws, and they seem quite good (well, the 340 anyway). They're probably the easiest starting saw I've ever used.

I know Mike Maas owns a 336 (from another thread) but does anybody else have an opinon of this saw or the Echo? I run a 346xp and a 260pro as my "big" saws, and I think I'm more particular to the Husky.

Is the 2.0 HP of the 336 adequate for cutting oak pallets? WIll the upcoming 339 be a big improvement (essentially a 334 vs a 338) ?

if i was cutting up pallets regularly..
i think id use my pp295 or 026..
i think it would work better overthe long haul than my litle echo.jmo

I've used the 346xp to cut the pallets as well, usually when the chain goes out on the poulan and I don't feel like stopping to sharpen it. The 346 cuts them like a banshee, but the problem is the fatigue from using the heavier saw for a long period of time. In cutting up the pallets, you are constantly bending over and supporting the weight of the saw, and it tires me out after a while with the heavier saw.

I cut up pallets with a electric circular saw like a "skillsaw".
Why use a chainsaw? Put one on sawhorses for a table, put another one on top to saw and not much bending over.

u must cut a lotto pallets or have back trouble like myself.i think the 345 echo mite do u.. was me id have to figure some way to get the work higher to avoid bending...
one other thing u mite think about is the 346 xp with 24 inch bar.. it ought to pull sharp chain thru pallets alrite... good luck.
