It's acceptable to sell saws in any condition as long as you describe it truthfully. I'm selling a Craftsman saw right now which isn't the best but runs well, I have described the slight damage and posted pictures of the saw from every angle so they can see for themselves. I do prefer selling saws to someone who knows about saws and mixing fuel, etc.

Post Office lost another 2 billion dollars even with the increases in postages so look for another increase. This might spell the end to my trying to sell on ebay.
Several years ago Ebay raised it's rates by about 200% on the items I sold, putting me out of business. For the last few months, Ebay was making more money on my business than I was. Postage was an expense that my customers bore, until Ebay started charging fees on the POSTAGE!! I did over $200,000 in sales the year before the fee increases.

To make any money on the saws I sell (used) I would have to buy something like an 066 Stihl for less than a hundred dollars, put a minimal amount in repairs and start the bidding a bit above what I had in it. The problem is, where do you find a premium type of chainsaw in fair shape for less than a hundred dollars? Poulan, Craftsman, McCulloch saws, you might as well forget about selling them.

the post office is loosing money because of a law that say's they have to give a certain amount to the GOV each year... then they tally the amount to see what they made and inevitable will always be in the red... by design. They get their cut before the costs to run the place are subtracted... you say 2 billion... yep, exactly the number they give!

Also heard that their retirement plan has to be fully funded, quite different than private business which can get by with about one fourth or thereabouts. Maybe the retirement was what they have to give to the government, I don't know but I imagine eventually the government will borrow from it like it did with Social Security.

Neighbor is a mailwoman... she say's they cut hours, amount of people and cutting retirements, ain't worth the headache anymore. Talk of cutting delivery days to just 4 days... they have been in trouble for years... just keep ignoring it!

350 to an 028... I'll take the 350 due to less headache!

I think it's a toss up, both them saws are a pain! There's bloody FEW saws that are good to go right out of the box. Husky 346, 357, STIHL 044/MS440, MS461.

Hey Randy are we gonna get a measurement on the 346 Hyway cylinder?

I don't think the 350s r a pain at all...30 min and I can have the piston in my hand....from fully assembled. ..they are quite straightforward 2 work on ....IMHO

When you have to rip a saw all apart and modify it to get it to put out decent power, that's a pain!

I've got one that i'm buildling now... ceramic hybrid bearings and hyway 45mm top end. I dunno how much port work i'm going to attempt, as it would be my first port job....but I already cut 20thow off the base adapter so I can run it w/o deleting the gasket. Funny thing is that after all the 350's i played w/ this summer, the one I use the most is the one that I made up out of the junkiest parts I could find. Turns out it cuts pretty good :)

I think the 350's are really easy to work on... after playing w/ a bunch of them, they are a little complex and "unlikely" of a design, but w/ the right tools they come apart in a hurry, and go back together in a hurry. I see basically zero downside to the plastic case w/ the exception of melting. even so, its not THAT difficult to swap a case.... even if ebay has them for $60 or so each. That said, you can EASILY spend waYYYYYY too much $$ on parts on these. ...hence my huge CC bill this summer! :(

best of luck workin on yours!

I took .035" off my adapter base and my gasket was .004" so my squish gap is .015" I just took this thing apart again b/c the first go around, I forgot to grind the adapter under the transfer ports to increase air flow. Man! I am sure pleased with the performance of this saw now!! This Meteor cylinder works GREAT after porting. I really like how the main bearings are mounted in shock absorbing material.
I have less that $300 into mine

Sometimes when I get enough parts saws I put the parts together and make one, usually not Husqvarna though, parts saws for them or Stihl are kinda high around here. I usually put together old Homelites or Poulans because that's the most plentiful.

old cat, can you send a photo of the grinding of the adapter base? there is a "fin" in there that I don't see much point to.... and it seems like I can grind away until I get to the gasket...no? and smooth out the transitions a bit....

I feel comfortable porting the intake and exhaust, but internals I think I might leave alone.... we'll see how it turns out...

30 minutes!
I can have the top end off a 372xp in five minutes... I did one the other day. Pulled the jug, inspected, removed the base gasket, and reinstalled the jug... All told it took about 15 minutes. Talk about easy to work on. ;)
