I'm out Christmas shopping with my better half. As we strole through the tool section at Sears in Rochester, NY..... I find two Husky saws. They were a 55 Rancher and a 345. So do you think Lowes will like this??

the huskys at lowes were just setting there. didnt look like anyone was biting. ive noticed they seem to be going as christmas gifts now tho. i wonder if other than the anti vibe, their is much difference in quality between these saws and the poulan pros,up the aisle. if these homeowner huskies have huskies best antivibe system, they would definitly
be better in that department. but powerheads are similar it seems to me.
jmho

Everybody that has a husky raves about the anti-vibe springs, I have owned huskys, homelites, poulan, and they all have similar spring set up, my choice now is Stihl, and they have bushings, I personally do not see a big difference in the vibration on the saws, every saw I've run has little or no vibration in all brands.

A twenty year history of rubber cushioning elements shows they fail over time. Buy the time you need replacements, the replacements are often gone from the parts pipeline and they have order them from another planet.

I thought the coming of the spring elements would be an improvement because they should last longer.

Thats so true tony! I custom built new bushings for my 041 from some serviceable aircraft landing gear bushings, and they work better than before!! The springs on my 372 work well, I have no complaints.

i'm almost suprised by how cheap people are!!! the lowes near me had only sold a few huskys untill this ice storm, people couldn't understand the quality differance between the poulans and the huskys. "why do i need to spend $150 more??? this looks like a good saw!!" that seemed to be the attitude:rolleyes:

Don't be fooled by those Huskys at Lowes and Sears. Husky has a pile at there factory of "seconds" those saws get shiped to Sears and Lowes. The markings are the same but the saws Tolarances/Clearances aren't the same.

The Poulan Pro and Husky 345 are probably very similar. They are completely different from the 55, completely different design. The 55 will outlast them by years

My2cents,
How did you come up with the idea that Lowes and Sears get the factory second saws??????
just wondering.......
Mike.

My2cents, I don't believe a word of your post any more than if you said Stihl ships seconds..

I am going to suggest a "blow and go" test for some of you stumblers.

Maybe Babcock was right after all, there should me some minumum standard of chainsaw I.Q. Maybe three levels of chainsaw IQ, well maybe just plain I.Q.

I'd bet a yardstick to a good set of very-nears that you wouldn't have a clue about chain saw manufacturers tolerences.

Sombody report this quick!

I dont believe for a minute that Husky would sell sloppy seconds to sears and lowes. Rumors like this are usually spread by disgruntled dealers. Same thing happened to the gun industry when dealers began to tell the public that walmart sold remington model 700's that where seconds and not up to the quality of gun shop bought models.

McColluch and Poulan used to market their {factory reconditioned
} models around some, so it has happened in the past.

I am not sure that selling good quality saws at sears is a bad idea, people in general are not as stupid as they appaer, and maybe after killing that $99 craftsman, they will respectfully get a better saw, thereby improving everybodys cutting experience. or they just might kill themselves but that can be summed up as "natural selection". I am all for it GO SEARS!!!!!!
