Hello all,
I’ve made a couple post seeking help about this troublesome 162, and I’ve gotten great help and advice. Today, a new issue emerges. I haven’t thought about it much until now, but when I bought this thing, it never came with a bar mounting plate on it. Recently, I’ve noticed that sawdust really cakes into the bar, and plugs up the oil hole on the bar. I’d assume that this thing needs a bar mounting plate, but because I don’t have one to go off of, I don’t know the part number or what it’s supposed to look like. On YouTube, there are a couple guys with some sort of a bar mounting plate, and some others that don’t seem to have one at all. If anyone can clarify what exactly I need, or don’t need, that would be great.

A quick google search tells me that the saw uses a Husqvarna 501444401 guide plate. Not sure that the plate will solve your problem. If your saw produces fine sawdust (as opposed to big chips), you should make sure that your chain is sharp and the rakers filed to the correct depth.

I did the same, and I found 2 consistent results. I found 5014444401 and 501444101. They look almost identical, apart from the latter missing the notch between the stud holes. Sawzilla has the latter, and since they have been good to me in the past, i’ll try theirs and give an update when it gets here.
I will also be sure to give my chain a fresh sharpening.

You need the outer plate too.
With some bars the chain adjuster hole will leak oil out to the outside cover so the bar doesnt get much oil.
I've made bar oil plates out of scrap alum, like a piece of rain gutter, you could use a beer can too.
