hydro problem

I have a dosko stump grinder with a hydrostatic transmission. The problem is that the machine will not drive up hills, curbs, etc, but will run fine on level surfaces.

I was wondering what the problem may be low oil, new transmission, etc?

Possible ! But sounds like a weak hydraulic pump or low RPM's.

Check the pump drive belt and see if it is loose or slipping. Checck the pulleys for wear also.

i love my doskos

had this happen a few times. normally pump belt!

but have replaced a few pump / diffs after they become too old...

So you can only just pull it over the idler bearing
