Checked my splitter hydraulic oil and it had water in it.
A trip to TS for oil and filter and came home with 10 gallons.
Drained as much oil as I could then added a few gallons of new oil, and cycled it a few times by splitting a few logs.
Drained it and repeated until I used up the whole 10 gallons.
I think I have more oil then water in it now.
Going to get another 5 gallons and flush it a few more times.

Damn vent hole!!!!:dumb2:

It's called condensation if you leave it sitting out all the time. If doing so consider using a something to plug vent when not in use - just remember to open before using again.

I built my splitter, back in 74. dont remember the brand of oil I put in it, but ive NEVER had a condensation problem, and it sets outside year round...............and the OLD briggs, will pop off on first pull first use into the season,,spring!! was points, I converted to solid state. best thing I ever did...

My splitter holds 40 gallons.

Every couple of years after it's been sitting for a month or more I'll drain a gallon out and let it sit in a gallon glass jar. Any water settles to the bottom and I pour the oil back into the splitter minus the water.

If you would just use smaller lines, a bunch of 90's, and an inferior filter and assembly, you could get that oil hot enough to just boil the water out!
a drain valve on the bottom of the tank would work too...let the water separate to the bottom, drain it until you get oil...easy

I had the same problem with my tractor.
I just drained it and heated the oil till it dried out n put it back in.

Here is a sample of the oil that has been sitting here for almost 2 weeks. Not much settlement happening.

I hope the bottom 9/10 of that bottle is opaque, that does not look like healthy hydro oil other wise. I have never seen good hydro oil that was cream colored
