I got lucky today.

I used to run an original Heidelberg windmill printing press. I had several years experience with running and maintaining this machine. One day during a long run on the machine, I was oiling some of the moving parts as the machine was operating. I had done this hundreds of times without any issues.
One day I was not careful enough while reaching over the fan belt, and my arm was grazed by the belt. Got a little burn and a light scratch. I was very lucky, and that sure woke me up quick. I very much like having function of my hands and fingers
Whatever type of machines you are dealing with - stay safe everyone!

@pdqdl this guy knew what firing up a heidelberg meant...

Adding this to the "how old are you" thread 😆
for context pdqdl was saying something about how common sense was measured vs getting hurt or something. I had read one of his posts a while back where he described all the different ways he'd been injured seven ways from sunday. And I jokingly threw some shade his way along the lines of "Wouldnt we need a fire up a heidelburg to print his medical file?"

ps I know that wouldn't really work given the nature of variable print vs litho.

Thanks for filling me in. I now find this even more hilarious 😆
Have a blessed day scut!

Ahhh!! Now I understand. I never comprehended the Heidelburg comment with respect to printer capacity and my individual history.

I thought you were saying with all their moving parts they were dangerous to work around.

The vast majority of my injuries were attributable to wrong place at the wrong time or bad luck, although not just a few could be linked to driving way too damned fast on a motorcycle. I'll take the heat for stupidity on a couple, as well.

Any powerline clearance climbers, or experience around powerlines here?

I had a close call Monday with a large poplar limb. A bad shift sent the tips into the hydro lines, caused some arcing. Nearly set that limb on fire.
The weight of the butt on the limb carried the tips off of there. No damage, no one injured.

Scared the heck out of me though, man was I ever lucky on that one..
