I had an epiphany today...

I was giving some pointers to the young apprentice about buying a saw for milling.

I said to him..in regards to how big of a saw to buy..I said..." You know, you can buy the biggest saw made, but it isnt going to get you anything if you dont take care of your chains."

Chain maintenance and sharpening details never made more sense to me than after I heard myself say that.

Yeah..that oak was HARD!! I dont remember the last White Oak I cut up being as hard as the stuff we cut today.

Ive got a nice Hyd Splitter that Im sure would make short work of it.

But why split and burn it...Id love to mill it up!!

It was hard enough to load 18 inch rounds. 8+ ft was out of the question.
