I need some info.

Hurricane Ike came through Sunday night and my business went from tree care to damage control in the blink of an eye. I need new boots. What are your favorite boots for standing around on spikes? Wesco`s would be nice but I need something off the shelf and in a hurry. My arches are killing me and I don`t want to wait for custom boots. I need them yesterday.

THANKS!

I wear carolina logger boots. Not as nice as Wesco but they fit nice and the heels are study enough to jamb in a crotch to rest your feet for a minute.

i have the best money can by but four you go to pay less it works well good luck tom trees

I can not understand a word your saying. Would you care to recommend a quality climbing boot that is also comfortable after many hours on spike? Capitalization and punctuation would help. Posting sober might help.

I still need boot recommendations lets keep this tread on track. Thanks Ghillie

I'm not a tree climber, I'm a lineman. I have custom wesco's of course, but if you're in a bind and need climbing boots in a hurry, I'd go to a few stores and find the hardest boots you can (bend them toe to heel and see what moves the least)

Viking rubber boots (husqvarna rebrands them also) have good shanks and aren't actually that uncomfortable for climbing in.

I have been in stock Wesco's that have lasted 4 years. I will be buying the same boot again this winter. I love em. I haven't climbed in anything else so I guess I'm biased. Jacked feet suck. Best of luck.

awww, just leave poor ole tomtrees be.....he don't hardly know what punkteashun iz, and speeelin',..... weelllll....uhhhh

Wescos are the best besides custom boots like Whites, but I often climb in any beefy hiking boot that I use for everyday work, which includes gaffless climbing and ground work. Most any with a good shank, and a bit of a heel will work, as long as you have top quality shin pads...several are good, and they start at $60 and go up from there.

+1 to rbtree comments.

My only experience is on my Carolina loggers, but I like them and for how much climbing I do

Boots

try Carolina pole climbers, just bought a pare on line for under $150. they have a large steel shank built in for spikes double leather over pole side and toe of boot

i like the bailey's red dawgs $160. or if you are in a pinch walmart carries a hiking boot called ozark trails bandi II. they dont have a steel shank but are very comfortable and have a big heel . plus they're only $30

Laugh if you will. K-Mart Catapillar boots. Good heel, good shank. Extra cushy. Best boots I splurged for was carolina logger boots. great boots but still wore them out in a season.Tried to get the vibram sole replaced at a local shoe store and they were junk after that. Check the clearance sections of some of thes supplier catalogs on-line. I just don't need a tall boot like some do.

I have a pair of Merrel hiking boot that are very stiff in the shank that might work well. Most outdoor stores will have them and they run bout 120 bucks. Never done any climbing with spikes so I really dont know what your looking for.

Thanks for all the replies. I have not made the purchase yet but I appreciate the info. I am going to try Wesco off the shelf. If that does not work out I will try Carolina. 10" boots are fine because I have comfy wraps.

I have custom wescos and I love them not sure how I did with out them. Their support would sell me another pair in heart beat. I had a couple of issues with mine at first and they were spot on in helping me getting them resolved. Good choice.
