Its a shame this old tree had to go but...it really did have to go. Major inclusion that split when I dropped it. It was leaning over a house that is on the local historic property list here. Cabling and bracing might of helped but I would not have saved it if it were my own house. I`d rather plant a new tree in a better location.

Also this tree was like balsa. It was amazing how light the stuff was. It busted into tiny bits upon impact . I`m sure glad I was being gentle instead of a "bull in a china shop". The proximity to the house made me extra cautious.

2 questions:

how much did you charge?
why didn't you just drop each branch away from the house instead of climbing the whole tree?

Huge loss. It seems like cabling and pruning would have cost less and kept the asset, and given you a longterm client instead of having to wait for the next removal. Were the owners getting elderly and fearful?

Not nearly enough

I climbed it to make it small enough to fit in the drop zone. I also removed weight from the back side to aide in pulling it over. The pics don`t show the bad lean.

Treeco,

Good eye, what looks like die back in the photo is actually the tree not fully leafed out. I am going back to do some pruning in the near future. The new owners are actually fixing up the place and take a big interest in the property. Its a nice place to work and the misses serves us lunch and homemade cookies every visit:clap:

Actually the new owners are young and they are trying to fix years of neglect cause by the previous owners who were in there 90`s.

Their is a silver lining to this story. I have 10 healthy saplings from this tree and 3 of them will be replanted on the property next spring.

Dont like non-natives much.
Still a good job on the take down.

BTW, where was the tree?

Did you use spikes>? Nice saw

Was it male or female Ginko Biloba right?

extreme, those were large files. Hover your mouse over the image and click on the icon, the image will appear even larger....the second pic has great detail and will anwer your question.

Great job, glenn....close quarters...but I reckon gingko is a fairly easy tree to dismantle. There aren't many in my bailiwick, and few if any that size.

Idiotic and illogical thing to ask!! Shows me you know little or nothing about real tree work, as is obvious from your post history.

Spikes yes. Use them most of the time for larger removals . I have been known to do removals without but usually when I show up to the job in sneakers and have forgotten my work boots. I always wear sneakers because of a painful foot condition. Surgery is slated for this fall and then I will be able to wear boots all day again.

Man If I had to walk a mile in your shoes... I see why you dont use spikes on removals if you dont have/want to. I was just kinda kidding but man, if a fellers got his health he really does have everything.

What happened to ya foot, did you spike it too?:D
