What's a 'C Loop'?

I see a bunch of chains listed on eBay as a 'C-Loop'? What does that mean? Chain loop? At first I thought it was a new Oregon consumer designation, but this is S56. I saw some C-Loops that were 'H' and 'D' designations too.

Anybody heard of or used this term?
