He be too young to retire. He told me a while back they were going to use that corner for something else. Not sure were he will go but shops are cheap in Aberdoo.

Let's do it. I've chatted with Ted on the phone, he's a good old boy. I'd be game for spending most of a day helping him move, or at the least- hanging out at his shop.

Here is the real story on this. The way it happened was he found me. He called me and told me he had a guy coming over to buy the saw and wanted to know if he was good on the price. He told me he had agreed to sell the bar and saw for $210.00 And the guy was going to be there on his lunch brake.

So I was honest with him. I told him the saw could bring about $250 on ebay with a generic bar. And if he separated that bar from this saw he would bring considerably more.

Then he asked me if I wanted to make an offer on it...."no, you asked me for advice, not to bid." Then he asked me what I would do for the guy coming over to buy it..."if I had agreed to a price prior to the guy seeing it, I would stick to it. And there is no way you can back out of this deal without being sleazy."

So he called the buyer up and talked him out of buying the saw, and the buyer agreed. Supposedly the guy was pleasant with the saw owner.

I would suggest that you talk to the guy and tell him I told you to call. Buy the whole thing for $300. clean the saw up and if the bar does not work on your saw, sell your saw and keep the 051, if it suits you. Then sell all your old stuff on eBay to recoup the money.

If I were going to negotiate this deal, I would be getting all bars, chain, and chainsaw related items for the $300. (he has chaps there too.)

Turns out he took the sleazy way out after all. I don't know you from Adam, kind of funny he called you for advise after the deal was almost done and then changed his mind after the call.... :msp_sneaky:

It sounds like we need to start a new (negative) category of "You SUCK!" awards.....which would never be allowed.

I can, to a very limited extent :msp_angry:, understand someone willing to do 'whatever it takes' to obtain a chainsaw and/or parts, but not why someone would intentially sabotage a deal in which they were not going to make a purchase.

Could there be a problem?

Fedex has stopped by three times to pick up a saw that I purchased on evilbay.

Saw had what turned out to be some minor problems 'out of the box'. Locked up due to tramp steel wedging the flywheel magnet with the coil.

I have no intention of sending it back because I fixed it.

Is it the seller's resposablity to cancel the Fedex pickup?

I never agreed to return it.

I don't worry about it at all. People who operate like that eventually end up shooting themselves in the foot. I know exactly which members here have tried to sabotage my deals and the sellers in most cases even showed me the e-mails/texts involved. It's laughable because in several cases, after the individual insulted the seller's intelligence by trying to tell them how to run their business, the individual pissed the seller off by trying to lowball them. It never ceases to amaze me how poorly or lowly some people think of others.

That all being said, the majority of people here do the right thing and act honorably. It's usually the "collector" types that get all wound up about accumulating stuff, because the collecting of anything is mostly compulsory behavior.

Anyone who has spent much time on either can attest to the un-scrupulous behavior that happens.
