Still runs, huh? It couldn't run from that truck tire.

Samething I thought. I never pulled the rope on it. Its no longer in the shop, it was sent back out the door with all its parts and dirt still in tack. I saw the busted case and that was enuff to stop right there..

Reminds me of a story...... we had an 048 at an outfit I used to work for and one of the groundies set it down behind the bosses PU. He left the job site to go do a couple of bids and backed up the rear handle to the top handle. It was perfectly lined up with the tire, just like a wheel chock. Had to replace top part of rear handle, air cleaner & top covers, air cleaner and plug. Was still in service when I left for another job. That was one tough saw.

By Joe, those pics hurt my eyes just by looking at them. The owner probably was abused during his childhood ....:jester:

Wow I thought Id seen it all..... then this :newbie: comes in with his chain all stretched and dull and burnt. When we asked if his oiler was working ok? he replied its auto oiling right? he never put any bar oil in the tank after his initial oil and been used!! I guess anymore I cant take this sawing thing for granted I must tell the buyer he needs to fill his or her oil reservoir when refilling with gas:bang: :bang:

I had a guy come to work for me two years ago_On the first job it was just he and I and I was blocking down this huge poplar tree..My saw ran out of gas,and I sent it down to him to re-fill...This guy claimed he had worked for a logging outfit for the last two years..He took my saw around the house, then promptly returned and re-tied it to my rope. After lugging it 60 feet back to where I was up the tree,I started cutting again, but noticed that the bar was getting awful hot..I checked the oil tank first and guess what?...His comment was that he checked the oil and it still had some,so he didn't refill it,he only gassed it...It must have been some sorry logging outfit he worked for if he didn't know to put oil in every time you put gas in.....About six months later,we sent him to the store to get gas.I ran three tanks of gas through a nearly new 460 before we realized that he forgot to put mixing oil in the gas.Luckily the engine didn't seize. It wasn't long after that he was off of my payroll....I'm sure every saw wrench and any pro in the business has a story like this. But I was completely dumb-founded by him because he said he used to be a logger...To mention,I check with who he said he worked for,and he wasn't lying about it.

He probably threw the user manual as soon as he got home, well, well - I feel with the dealers with idiot costumers.......

Another one....

The summer after I got out of college I worked at small service station. A family pulls into the full service pumps with VW Jetta. As I approached the window I politely told the young wife/mother that we did not sell diesel and that she should go to the station down the road as they did. "It's not a diesel, regular unleaded is fine" she replied. I guess one shouldn't assume that just because a certain small German automobile that rolls into your lot knocking and rattling like a little Kubota that it's a diesel powerplant under the hood. I asked if she would like me to check her fluids as the engine was sounding a little odd. I popped the hood, pulled the dipstick and there wasn't even a hint of petroleum product on it, but it was slightly blackened at the tip. It was indeed a gas burner. At that point I asked her when her last service was? "Service? We purchased the car last year and the warranty is good for another XX miles." I looked at the odometer, 33,000 miles w/o an oil change or any added for that matter. I added the appropriate amount of oil (exactly what the manual called for, every drop) and fired it up, it did sound slightly better but still like a small oil burner. I advised her to seek a dealer and alternate tranportation. To which she asked, "do you think we'll make it back to Buffalo? We're on our way home from vacation." (Buffalo being over 200 miles away) I told her I couldn't guarantee she'd make to the next block, but good luck. It was a 90* August day and they'd been driving for over 500 miles straight w/o any oil in the pan. I tell ya, sure made a believer in me of German engineering. Just imagine the kind of life you'd get out of that engine if properly maintained???

I was asked to repair this saw, it still runs the man said, hmm

"Here's your sign" -- Bill Engvall

I once had a lady pull into my buddies 4x4 shop. Brand new S-10 blazer, she thought that 4x4 shops are the ones that service 4wd vehicles. Anyways, she complains that her SUV doesn't "go fast and shakes terribly". Gets taken for a spin...nothing. Visual inspection of the driveline, nothing. Finally, she takes one of the guys for a ride and what does she do? Hits the 4Lo button!!! "Why did you do that?" her reply "I want my 4 lo-beam lights on"

People who never bother to RTFM don't bother me...they keep the tech savy people in buisness...

I charge customers 1 hour time If I go to the owners manual and find out how they could have fixed the problem.

Well Tom it looks like it was time for the JB Weld :chainsawguy:
