The chainsaw Gawds and USPS came thru for me today. My brand-new American Express card arrived today.

I called AE just to verify that my new card does indeed, provide for a $250.00 credit statement to my account when I make a purchase(s) of at least $1000.00 within three months of receiving the card.

"Candy" (customer service representative) from AE assured me of the above.

Tomorrow, I place the call and buy the MS-461R. Already gave my brother a heads-up. He said he knows of the business, and will gladly stop by, pick the saw up, and bring it with him when he comes up for Christmas.

$809.00 OTD. This is me...........:dancing:

You simply SUCK!!

...will ya buy two and simply let me make installments??...without any of that 21.23 % daily, compounded interest.

Well......it's not a done deal yet, but I am a few steps closer. I called the store asking for the guy I had previously spoken to on the 8th. I was told he's off until Friday.

I explained the situation to the guy on the phone (saw tech) and he said that he did recall speaking to his fellow employee about me and the saw and that a "hold" had been put on it. He said that he could sell it to me, but he wasn't authorized to offer the $100.00 off.

I said I understood, but I definitely wanted the $100.00 off and I could wait until Friday to speak to the guy I had spoken to earlier. I did confirm it was a 461-R model and not just a 461. And, I verified that they will take American Express as payment. And, I told them to add a 6-pack (small bottles) of the Stihl Ultra HD oil so that I could get the extra 1 yr. warranty.

Although it's been sitting on the shelf for several months, I was told that it's in perfect condition and not beat up by being handled by looky lou's. The tech went ahead and removed it from display and secured it away in the service dept.

As if the deal wasn't good enough, I have a Bank of America credit card as well, and have had for some years now. I knew that I had about $135.00 in bonus points earned, but wasn't sure if I could redeem them for cash in the form of a check to me. Lo and behold, I checked, and sure as shooting, they had that option. So, I chose that and it's on it's way.

So.....that's another $135.00 cash that I don't have to spend out of my pocket. That brings my total out-of-pocket cost to $674.00 for the saw.

Well......it's said and done. I just got off the phone with the store. The credit card went thru w/o any problem.

And, they gave me an extra chain, Stihl ball cap and a storage / carry case for the saw. They realized because of the wrap handle on the saw, the saw would not fit in the case. So, they were going to not give me one, although it said on the sales receipt that they had. I told them that I could find a use for the case even though it wouldn't fit the 461R. They said great, so they gave me the case after all.

My brother will pick it all up tomorrow and bring it up when he comes for Christmas.

I'm thinking I did pretty good...............:drinkingcoffee:

Well.....I'm the proud owner of a brand-new MS-461R. I just don't have it in my possession yet.

My brother called last night to let me know he stopped by the store and picked it up along with all of the accessories (freebies) that came with it. He said that they must have started it up because it had a bit of oil on the underside of it. I told him, yes, that was SOP for dealers to do that before they release it to the customer.

He did say that once he gets here, it has to go under the Christmas tree. I told him BS, I'm gonna use it to cut it down! :chainsaw:

My final cost keeps slipping. I found $62.00 in cash back rewards on another credit card of mine. And yes, they will send me a check.

My final cost has now dropped to $612.00. :muscle:

That's a true Christmas story, now go make it dirty !!

Umm......I don't even have the saw yet, and you're already asking for pics. And.....you all already know how I feel about posting pics on forums. I hate doing that if it takes me any effort at all.

But, once I do get the saw, and if I'm having a good day, and all the stars above are in perfect alignment, who knows, I just might try and post one or two.

So, in the meantime, this one will have to do.

I think propper SOP says something about..... acquire ..... Send out for porting.... Piss rev in the garage with the biggest bar possible ( supported or unsupported ) ....... Bring said saw to multiple gtg for further piss reving ....... Some sort of naked polishing ritual ....... Install HD eye bolts for wall hanging ....... No touchy woody for the first 3-5 gallons of pre mix at ratios of 25:1 30:1 32:1 40:1 42:1 50:2 but never 52:1 you communist what where you thinking..... And I'm sure I missed a step or two but as you can see there's a ways to go before it ends up in the trading Post
