Greetings All!
I have an IH 4700 year 2000 with the Allison Automatic transmission. It worked great until the trans cooler failed in the radiator. I replaced the cooler, but it was too late, the coolant had ruined the transmission. Since we have a nice shop, I replaced it with a scrapyard trans from a 2001 Freightliner. Transmissions appear Identical, both Allison 2000 with manual park brake and 5 speeds. Swapped PTO. My problem is the new transmission goes into limp mode as soon as you drive forward. It makes the initial shift and rolls forward in low gear about three seconds, then slams into a higher gear and that's that until you shut the truck off. Reverse is functioning normally, but there was one day when it wouldn't go into gear. Next day was fine.
I know there are some highly skilled fixers on this forum, and the International DT466e and Allison are a common combination in treecare. Does anyone know how to manually pull codes an an Allison? The truck has a diagnostic button, but only pulls engine codes. The transmission gear shifter is a T-handle with a pull cable to the trans, with a eco mode and a range inhibited button. The truck has a J1939 (9 pin) data link, and I have access to an adapter to OBDII, however, my brother's reader (EFI Live) is blank when we hook it up. I would really like to get up and going again.
Thanks
